Happy hump day! For today's "Inspired by your childhood" challenge, I decided to go really simple. I was going to do a really girly mani with pink and purple, but then I remembered when I was first introduced to nail polish. I was trying one of my mom's old Maybelline polishes that was a sheer pale pink and I remember falling in love with it. Since then, I've always loved nude colored polishes and polishes that made your nails look well-kept.
For this mani I chose an older Essie, Great Expectations. It's a light sheer grey with a hint of shimmer. If you have followed my blog for a while, you probably know I always love these types of shades and that they are definitely a weakness for me.
Please be sure to check out what my lovely fellow challenge ladies created for day 25:

I remember my first nail polish shade was something like a barbie pink :P

Ooh! haha Barbie pink is always a great color! :D
DeleteNice nail polish!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! :D
DeleteWhat a fun story and great inspiration :) This polish looks so nice on you. Nudes are a weakness for me, too.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks hehe. Yea, nudes are just too hard to resist! :D
DeleteOh what a sweet memory - I'm pretty sure my first polish has to have been red - at that time that was the only color along with pastel pink and later also white - gosh I'm sooo old... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria! lol! I think you're still young at heart :D
DeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt is! Thanks, Ina! :D
DeleteAww I loved reading your story about your first time painting your nails! That's so sweet. I don't even remember what/when I first tried it and what color I used.. -_- hahaha. But I totally connect with you on the weakness for nude shades... they're just so beautiful. Love this color too!! <3 Happy Wednesday, Traci my dear!
ReplyDeleteAw hehe thanks, Rhonda! lol! Hmm I wonder what it was...
Deleteomg aren't nudes just awesome! They're definitely beautiful :D Happy Wednesday!
I love nude toned polishes as well. I think it's probably because you can work them in with any kind of outfit! :D
ReplyDeleteI think you're right! They go great with everything! :D
DeleteI definitely have a thing for nude nail polishes. I have this color, and it doesn't look this good on me! How many coats did you do? Hope you had a lovely Wednesday, Traci!
ReplyDeleteAren't nude polishes just great? :) Aw lol. I think I used 2-3 coats for this. I hope you had a lovely Wednesday as well, Victoria!
DeleteSuch a pretty shade!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is! :D
DeleteI simply love this polish on you! Nudes and neutrals are my favorite colors EVER.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maribeth! Ahh same here! :D
DeleteAww this is so sweet!!
ReplyDeleteHehe thanks, Colleen! :D
DeleteYou can never go wrong with neutral nails ^^ And it's true, I remember the first nail polish I wore and it was a sheer white or beige so this was pretty close : )
ReplyDeleteMost definitely :D ooh that's really close! Sounds like a beautiful color!
DeleteFor my childhood mani, I'd have to get some of the bright pink SH Hard as Nails. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh I could totally see that! :D
DeleteThat is so sweet! For my first nail polish it would have to be the Sally Hansen Chromes!
ReplyDeleteHehe thanks, Jayne! Oooh chromes! Now those are fun! :D
Deletesoft shades and nudes always look great on you!
ReplyDeletehaha thanks, Frosso! :D
DeleteAww. I didn't expect a nail post to get me nostalgic. I never wore makeup when I was young, but I loved getting polishes at the dollar store. The polishes I got were always super glittery blues that stunk to high heaven.

Aw hehe. I actually didn't wear makeup when I was young either, but polish was a different story! Oooh blue glitters! lol crazy how strong polish used to smell!
DeleteThis polish really reminds me of Dior Cherie Bow and the pink and grey theme! I love that color on you and the story behind it. My first experience with nail polish was when my grandma used to paint my nails with her red polish... probably explains why I still love classic red so much!
ReplyDeleteOoh that color sounds really similar! Aww that's awesome! I love how little things like that can effect what we like today :D
DeleteI love hearing bloggers' polish history!
ReplyDeletehehe me too! :D
DeletePretty!! Simple and girly!
ReplyDeleteHehe definitely! Thanks, love! :D
DeleteYou should do nails that are shades of _____. I'd love to see you do a series of that...like shades of pink, shades of purple, etc. I'd love to see what you come up with!!
ReplyDeleteYou come up with the coolest ideas! I may have to do this! I'm going to add it to my list :D
