Hello lovelies. Over the weekend I filmed myself painting these nails so I could show a couple new-found online friends, Minette and Alisha, how I do gradient nails. This is also for anyone who has never done gradient nails and wants to try. I've a few other techniques, but this is how I do them.
For this mani I used Lime Crime's Parfait Day and Essie's Mint Candy Apple. I did a few manicure videos before and I forgot how long they take for me to do lol. I don't think I'll be doing one for a while. Maybe I'll get better with time.
Soooo...here's the video. I hope you enjoy! Eeek! I'm open to any advice and critiquing!
Omgomgomg!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED for your channel!!! AAHHH!! UN. REAL. Lol love love LOVE <33

DeleteI LOOOOVE! Both shades are stunning on their own and even more gorgeous together! Great mani, Traci! :)
ReplyDeleteYay thank you, Dani!! <3
DeleteGreat video, I like that you speed up parts of it, and I can imagine they are time consuming to do - the reason why I don't even think of it LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria! Yes, it was pretty time consuming hehe. Kind of fun, but long process hehe. Yea, I think if I didn't speed up some parts it would have been like a 15 minute video! haha
DeleteAww...I love this! I'm glad to finally see a video fro you. It's been too long!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mallory! Aw you remember...hehe thanks for being a long-time blog friend! <3

ReplyDeleteThanks, Daisy! :D
DeleteVery soft and pretty! I need to do more gradients.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! Yes! I would love to some on your site! :D
DeleteThat's usually how I do gradients, too. I like the look of putting all the colors on the sponge at once, too.
ReplyDeleteYour tutorial skills are better than mine! The editing part is what I hate!
Yay! Great minds think alike :D hehe. Oh yes, I actually used to do that method too. I especially liked that when doing rainbow nails!
Deletelol! Well, the video sure took a long time to edit! I'm so slow...haha yea, editing isn't my favorite haha. I think your vid was awesome!! I can't wait to see more!
Awesome video! I always wondered how gradients were done!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks! I'm glad you were able to see at least one way to do them :D
DeleteI saw some cotton candy like that today and I wanted it so bad! Now I want it more since I didn't buy it!
ReplyDeletelol! That sounds yum! I haven't had cotton candy in a while...sure sounds good...lol
DeleteAhhhh! Gah!!!! I love your video and need my traci fix!!! Love your tutorial!!! You're so good at this!! More more!!
ReplyDeletelmao! You seriously are going to make me laugh out loud for real every time you use "Gah!" now!! I am dying lol!
DeleteI'm so glad you like it! Hopefully I can keep up like you and Rhonda! Oh you YouTube experts...hehe
Thanks for stopping by all the time, Meredith! :D
ReplyDeleteOoh yay! Thanks for visiting! I'll be sure to check out your site! :D
ReplyDeleteHiya! I am a new follower from the blog hop and just wanted to say I love, love, love this colour combination!
ReplyDeleteHi Dani! Thanks so much for visiting! Thanks for your email as well :) I love what I see on your blog!
DeleteGradients scare me to death so I live vicariously through your posts ;)
ReplyDeletelol! <3
DeleteLOVE IT!! Really, I love everything about the video. It looks like you're a youtube pro :) I also appreciate that you sped up the speed and showed each nail. I get annoyed when I watch videos and they just do one nail and then magically all the nails are done in the next frame. But I also don't have the patience to watch each nail done in real time haha so your added speed was perfect. I do my gradients the same exact way except I usually tear off pieces from the sponge to give it a rougher edge so I don't have to worry about sponging on straight lines.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Frosso! lol aw, I feel like I have more to learn with youtube! Oh yea haha. I know I wouldn't want to watch a video of someone painting their nails real time. Oh I'm glad you liked that I showed the other nails too. omg I used to tear the sponge too for a rougher edge! The only thing I didn't like was the crumbs that sometimes came off of the torn sponge lol, but definitely a great technique for that rough look :D
DeleteNew follower here, I've been scrolling through your posts and loving what I'm seeing =) Anyways, thanks so much for the gradient tutorial! I feel like I've tried time and time again to make a gradient, but I'm never successful. Going to have to try this!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Jacqui! I'm so glad you like what you've seen :) Makes me happy hehe. Ooh I'd love to see when you do it!
DeleteHey Citra!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this tutorial. I'll be sure to tag you on IG with my #epicfail...LOL Seriously I hope they turn out somewhat cute. I think half of my problem is trying to rush (since I have 2 kids) and not letting the first coat dry enough. Thanks again for the tutorial and the shout out! <3
ReplyDeleteHi Alisha! Absolutely! Hehe I'm sure yours will not be an epic fail lmao! Thanks for being so awesome! <3
DeleteI was going to follow you just for the blog hop, but |'m happy I discovered your blog! Love all the nail looks ;)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my blog: Makeup by Rachel
Aw thanks, Rachel! That's so sweet :)
DeleteLOL, I wanted to hear your voice! I don't know if I could ever do videos with all the time it takes to edit and making sure the lighting is good. Props to you for doing one for a gradient!
ReplyDeletelol! Oh Jayne...you crack me up. I was thinking about talking, but psyched myself out lol. Yea, it can be pretty time consuming. I guess if others like it in the end, it was worth it :) Thanks so much!
DeleteLove the colors, your nails turned out gorgeous! Definitely makes me think of cotton candy. :D
ReplyDeleteI really like the how-to video you made too!
Thanks so much, Christa! Hehe. I'm glad you liked it! :D
