Cotton Candy Gradient / How-to

Hello lovelies. Over the weekend I filmed myself painting these nails so I could show a couple new-found online friends, Minette and Alisha, how I do gradient nails. This is also for anyone who has never done gradient nails and wants to try. I've a few other techniques, but this is how I do them.

For this mani I used Lime Crime's Parfait Day and Essie's Mint Candy Apple. I did a few manicure videos before and I forgot how long they take for me to do lol. I don't think I'll be doing one for a while. Maybe I'll get better with time.

Soooo...here's the video. I hope you enjoy! Eeek! I'm open to any advice and critiquing!

  3. Great video, I like that you speed up parts of it, and I can imagine they are time consuming to do - the reason why I don't even think of it LOL

    1. Thanks Maria! Yes, it was pretty time consuming hehe. Kind of fun, but long process hehe. Yea, I think if I didn't speed up some parts it would have been like a 15 minute video! haha

  12. That's usually how I do gradients, too. I like the look of putting all the colors on the sponge at once, too.

Your tutorial skills are better than mine! The editing part is what I hate!

lol! Well, the video sure took a long time to edit! I'm so slow...haha yea, editing isn't my favorite haha. I think your vid was awesome!! I can't wait to see more!

  20. LOVE IT!! Really, I love everything about the video. It looks like you're a youtube pro :) I also appreciate that you sped up the speed and showed each nail. I get annoyed when I watch videos and they just do one nail and then magically all the nails are done in the next frame. But I also don't have the patience to watch each nail done in real time haha so your added speed was perfect. I do my gradients the same exact way except I usually tear off pieces from the sponge to give it a rougher edge so I don't have to worry about sponging on straight lines.

    1. Thanks, Frosso! lol aw, I feel like I have more to learn with youtube! Oh yea haha. I know I wouldn't want to watch a video of someone painting their nails real time. Oh I'm glad you liked that I showed the other nails too. omg I used to tear the sponge too for a rougher edge! The only thing I didn't like was the crumbs that sometimes came off of the torn sponge lol, but definitely a great technique for that rough look :D

  22. Hey Citra!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this tutorial. I'll be sure to tag you on IG with my #epicfail...LOL Seriously I hope they turn out somewhat cute. I think half of my problem is trying to rush (since I have 2 kids) and not letting the first coat dry enough. Thanks again for the tutorial and the shout out! <3
