Nude/Neon Gradient

Happy Hump Day! I've yet to tire from the nude and neon color trend so I decided to do a gradient. I used China Glaze's ever so famous Flip Flop Fantasy and OPI's Tickle My France-y

I don't know if any of you have noticed, but there are a lot of gradient and ombre nails appearing and I couldn't help but notice the confusion! Kristen from Glitter Gloss & Glaze first shed light on this on her post here. From what I learned in school, a gradient is a gradual change from one color to another. An ombre, from what I've learned in the nail blogging world, is when you use different shades of one color on each nail to show the gradual change from the first to the last nail. Ever since I read Kristen's post, I started noticing gradient manicures labeled "ombre." I hope the confusion clear up lol :D

  8. This is so cute, it is like the tips are glowing!

I also agree with you, I would consider this gradient.
In photoshop when I do a background it's very often that I used "Gradient Overlay" which is the gradual change from one color to another. Though I can understand the confusion since when you think of ombre hair, it's the gradual change in hair color from one to another.

Yay cool. Oh you're right! I've seen that in photoshop! Yea, you're right with the ombre hair. That could be where the confusion comes in.

  13. I do like this gradient! And I have seen a good bit of confusion about ombre/gradient, but I've also seen it with ruffians, halfmoons, and with people sometimes calling them "reverse frenches." Which I guess isn't really that bad.

  16. Nude and neon is a thing? I evidently have not been paying attention. :)

Maybe we need some sort of nail polish standard setting body that issue pronouncements on what things are called--I'd love to serve on the finish committee and discuss all the different types of shimmer!
