Tribal Mani Attempt

Here is my first attempt at tribal nails! I've seen so mani cool-looking tribal manis with so much color and design, but I decided to try it with just a black nail art pen because it was a bit difficult deciding what colors to use and I didn't know where to begin! So this is what I came up with. I didn't apply a top coat for these pictures because for some reason, whenever  apply a top coat over the black nail art pen, the black kind of shatters. I'm not sure why that happens. Any thoughts on that? I just used Essie's Turquoise & Caicos for the base color and designed away!

    1. thanks, Stephi. I use Seche Vite. I don't know if it's just the nail art pen I got, but no matter what top coat I use, the black just doesn't stay black...

  15. This is really good! The turquoise and black is a really striking combo. I like how you left a lot of negative space too, instead of filling up the whole canvas.
I had a similar problem with the SH nailart pens. I also found that they smudged like crazy so I never used them again ):

    1. Aw thanks! Yea, they're not the greatest art pens to be using huh? I feel like the black one is great to use if you want to detail, but after the top coat goes on...boo lol
