Good afternoon! I still can't believe it's already June! This year is just flying by lol.
I received these Sally Hansen effects nail strips from one of my coworkers last year and this is my first time using them! I'm sure you are all familiar with these so I won't go into detail. I think the quality of them were pretty good. I've seen mixed reviews, but overall I had a good experience with them. The ring finger was easy to apply. As for the pinky and thumb...I had a bit of a challenge. The strips have a plastic layer on top and when I cut it to my liking, I had the hardest time taking it off! Aside from that, these were pretty awesome to use.
For the pink base I used Color Club's Poptastic because I thought the pink would be great with the checkers. I also had a hard time taking a picture of this pink lol. It has almost a neon effect to it and I am such a noob when it comes to using the white balance setting and changing my shutter speed...I tried playing around with them and I took a whole bunch of pictures and just narrowed it down to those above. I hope you like the ways these came out! Let me know what you think! :D
LOVE this! I was not crazy about these nail wraps, but what you've done with it make them so much more enjoyable!!! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Winnie! Me too! So I decided to try something different with them haha :D
DeleteThis is SO cool looking! The checkers definitely go well with the pink :)
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks, Julie! :)
DeleteThis looks amazing!! I love that you cut them to make a design. Super cute! I have to go away next week and will be trying strips for the first time. I hope I'm as successful :-/.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marisa! Ooh have fun! I'm sure you'll be successful! :D
DeleteHow did they hold up when you applied them over polish? I have only used them on bare nails.
ReplyDeleteThey actually held up well over the polish. I was surprised because the directions say to place them over clean nails and I think it said not to place over polish...but yea, they applied well over the polish and still held up well :)
DeleteThat's pretty cool. I never thought to use them on top of other nail polish!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mallory! :D
DeleteThis came out really cool! I think it's a cute design.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad haha. Thanks, Melissa! :D
DeleteI love this! The checkers and the pink look great together!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you love it!! thank you! <3
DeleteThis is really cool!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks! :D
DeleteLooks fantastic! I've never tried anything different w/ the strips, but maybe I will now!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Oooh I'd love to see if you try these!
DeleteI really love this, the contrast between the colors is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a vibrant pink!
Yay I'm glad you do, Christa!
DeleteYea, the pink is really vibrant lol! I had trouble taking pictures of it's brightness!
I really like that you made this your own. It's eyecatching.
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I'm glad you think so! Hehe
DeleteI have the strips too, but I have yet to try them because there are so many nail polishes to try out! I love the way you mixed the strips with a real manicure. I always feel like it's cheating to use strips like these and that I'll be disrespecting the nail gods or something. I know, this season of neon polishes is making my camera go crazy and I don't feel like sitting at the computer editing all my pictures. It's nail polish, it's supposed to be easy!
ReplyDeletelol! I think that's what happened to me! I've had these strips for months now! I'm glad I finally tried them :) Haha yea, the strips feel like you're cheating. Especially when it has a design on it...
DeleteThat's so true! It's supposed to be easy lol! I wish the cameras could just capture the color easily haha
i lovelovelove this!! so creative!
ReplyDeleteYay!! Thanks so much!
DeleteI love this combination! :D Neon, neon, neon and checkers!
ReplyDeletelol! Glad you love it! :D
DeleteI love this! That pink is stunning!!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! Thanks so much! :D
DeleteLove this! The thumb and pinky are really cool- I never thought about manipulating nail polish strips like that o:
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brittney! lol I've seen these applied on all the nails, but really wanted to try something different! :D
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThat was such a creative idea! And the outcome is amazing. I am really intrigued by your beauty blog.
Your new follower,
Tarah and the City
Aw thanks so much! That means a lot :D Welcome!!
DeleteGreat idea matching the strips with hot pink polish! I started to save my unused strips so I could use them as accent nails, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Your mani is giving me an 80's flashback :) Love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! lol, yea I can see the 80s in this mani lol. Ooh great idea! I'll probably do the same. I have a lot of strips left haha.
DeleteWhat did you think of the staying power of these? I used the Nailease and didn't last long AT ALL! Disappointing!!
ReplyDeleteI thought these lasted pretty well. I was iffy because I believe the directions say to place them on clean nails. I thought they stuck on to my polished nails really well. I had tried ones from Sephora by OPI last year, and they were ok. I think these lasted longer.
DeleteAww that's so sad :( Hopefully you didn't pay too much for those!
Looks great =]
ReplyDeleteVery cool! To me, this is the perfect use for polish strips. I wouldn't want to do my whole nails but I'd definitely like to play w them like this. Maybe I'll get some strips sometime to mess around. Awesome combo! =)
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you think so hehe. I'd love to see what you use the strips for :)
DeleteThank you, Nicole!
This is exactly what I would use these nail strips for! :D That pink is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteHaha awesome! Yes, the pink really is haha! :D
Deletegorgeous mani! love the pink
ReplyDeleteYay thanks! I love the pink too! :P
